Patient Models

Patient Models

Will I practice on live models or simulated materials?

We always aim for you to treat at least one live model because you will gain the best experience with a real patient. This allows you to assess, consult, discuss, consent and work through treatment.

If you are unable to complete the e-learning in time, then we will provide you with a mannikin. You can practice technique with us, and still gain experience through watching other practitioner in the session. When you do complete the e-learning, you can choose to join us for a coaching session at a future date to take up the practical experience. It will still be a great experience for you.

Are models provided, or do I need to bring my own?

We will provide all the models for your practical session. What we love about this is that the models have already been consented to treatment, had background checks undertaken and are happy to have treatment. This also gives you a real-life experience as you will start with a consultation, work through the patients concerns and undertake the treatments as you would in a real clinical environment.

If you prefer to bring a model, this can be arranged by contacting us well ahead of time via email: dermaldistinction@idental.com.au

Please make sure that your model is open to having treatment in multiple areas so that it does not limit your learning experience. In the past, practitioner models have been very determined to receive treatment in only one or two areas. Whilst this is of course okay, it will limit your injecting experience incredibly on the day.

Can I be a model and also learn?

Some practitioners choose to be models themselves. This again can be pre-arranged by emailing us at dermaldistinction@idental.com.au

Again it is important that you are open to receiving treatment in multiple areas so that your treating practitioner will get a great learning experience, and you will receive a good treatment too. The advantage of being a model is that you will get a first-hand experience from both the practitioner and patient point of view. You will then be able to discuss your clinical experience and results with patients, which adds to your credibility and ability to book treatment within your own clinic.

How many models for I treat?

In a group training, you will treat one model and have the opportunity to observe other practitioners and their treatments.

In Advanced training and private sessions, you will treatment more than one model! Our aim is to give you:

a. Focused Skill Development: The delegate can concentrate on mastering specific techniques or procedures, which is particularly valuable for honing advanced injection skills. We will source at least 2-3 models for you to treat.
b. Accelerated Learning: The intensive and focused nature of private training can lead to accelerated learning, enabling delegates to gain expertise more quickly.
